Budkhulu is an old mudbrick town locatedon the paved road between Qasr and Mut. Although there is evidence that the settlement was inhabited during pharaonic times, the present remains date back to the Islamic era. Among the old structures there are minarets, covered streets and door beams. The most interesting remains in the old village are the ones of a Turkish cemetery located on a hill west of the town and visible from the main road. Extensive gardens stretch for some distance before the entrance to the village. Today Budkhulu is an agricultural village whose modern buildings surround the old village. Mainly oranges, lemons, olives and apricots are cultivated (CISS Inventory 2010; Vivian 1990).
